A few days in Ipoh

Our transport from KL to Ipoh was on the Plusliner bus. It was a 3.5 hour journey. We weren't overly impressed with Plusliner, the seats were smaller, the bus older and worse sin of all - no laptop charging points (gasp). The driver tail gated and bullied every car, who had the misfortune to be infront of him. Then on arrival in Ipoh, he pulled off the main road into a mud pit, full of burnt out broken down Plusliner buses, to change drivers. For a horrid moment, I thought this was the bus station.  At the KL bus station Anyway we arrived in one piece and caught the every trusty Grab car to our hotel. We are staying at the M Boutique Hotel. It's very interesting, full of cool stuff to look at. We have a suite and it's very comfortable. We can choose breakfast at either White Coffee Cafe or another small cafe, both attached to the hotel.  Our room at M Boutique Hotel The sun is beating down here and it really too hot to walk about i...

Kuala Terengganu and a little bit of KL. The journey from Kuching to KT wasn’t quite as smooth as we would have hoped for. Our flight from Kuching to KL was delayed by an hour - which meant we would most likely miss our connection.  On arival KL airport was packed and after the usual massive queue we managed to check in for our next flight, which had, thankfully, also been delayed two hours. We finally took off three hours later, only to sit on the run way for 30 more minutes - oh the joy of travel. Anyways... here we are in KT. We suspected the hotel we booked, The Primula, would be faded glory ... and it is. We finally got to our room at 9.30 pm only to find the wifi didn’t work so we had to move rooms.   Little did we know this was the start of a pattern, the balcony door would not open and when it did, it would not close (don't forget it's raining); the lights don't work and when they do they drop in and out; the hot water disappears for two days; the TV re...

Back in Malaysia. This is (only) our second overseas holiday this year. We had a lovely, albeit cold trip to Japan in Feb. Now it's December and we are spending a month or so in Malaysia. We haven’t travelled much this year because we were selling two properties and needed to get our retirement funds in order. (Well I say we, but really Richie is doing all the hard lifting). Anyhoo, both properties were sold, one very slowly and one obscenely quickly and here we are..... Lombok, sadly experienced several earth quakes, which caused lots of damage late this year. We were in Lombok, after the Japan trip in March and we had decided to give it a rest for a while anyway. Fortunately (for us) Malaysia is our next go to for no stress, relaxing holidays. We left Perth one a one way ticket, two suitcase (for a change) and a very loose itinerary. We are currently in Kuching, at the delightful Hilton Hotel and we have just extended our state to 7 nights. We booked the Club Floor and...
