A few days in Ipoh
Our transport from KL to Ipoh was on the Plusliner bus. It was a 3.5 hour journey. We weren't overly impressed with Plusliner, the seats were smaller, the bus older and worse sin of all - no laptop charging points (gasp). The driver tail gated and bullied every car, who had the misfortune to be infront of him. Then on arrival in Ipoh, he pulled off the main road into a mud pit, full of burnt out broken down Plusliner buses, to change drivers. For a horrid moment, I thought this was the bus station.

The sun is beating down here and it really too hot to walk about in the day time. We caught a Grab to the Han Chin Pet Soo Museum, which was nothing like I had expected (this is one of the best things about travel, usually nothing is as you imagine). It was great fun, an old shop house, where a quite famous (in Ipoh) chappy started his herbal tea business. It had quite a few dioramas and as we know, I lurrrve me some dioramas!!

As it was still to hot to walk about, we Grabbed it to the Ipoh Shopping Mall, which was suitably huge. Quite a successful shopping episode, I finally bought new sunglasses, Richie added to his clothes collection and we got overly exited about some knee and foot support straps.
We also discovered a yummy new sandwich, bread thingy - like a roti... delicious, of course we haven't found it anywhere again yet....

If finally cooled down in the evening, so we Grabbed it to the Beer and Barrel. Turns out this area is really pub street. We had a meal the the Beer and Barrel and listened to the Filipino band and followed this up with a second drink at anther bar. We walked home from there, through an outdoor market. It was only a 20 minute walk home, Ipoh is not that large.

Our last day in Ipoh today and still a bit hot to explore. We are waiting for the late afternoon and we will head out for hopefully a bit of a wander.
Footnote: we ended up spending a day in bed. We made the most of our lovely room and we needed a bit of a break from our holiday... We spent three nights in Ipoh, its a cute town, probably better visited in cooler weather. It's very walkable, there are many colourful lanes to wander through and it's not too touristy. As its only a couple of hours from KL, it's definitely worth a short visit.
